A few years ago, I was driving back home from Beckley, West Virginia. I had been to visit my husband at his work site, so I was driving home by myself, just me and my dog. I had been on the road for a few hours, when the GPS took me on a small, 2-lane backroad that I just wa-a-sn't too sure about. It took me past houses, farms and fields...around hairpin curves...up a hill and down a hill. I passed signs with names that I didn't recognize...names like Wadlow Gap, Stickleyville, Duff Patt Rd., and Blackwater. I paused to sing bits and pieces of the Doobie Brothers song by the same name. I blindly put my faith in a small piece of technology, and kept pressing on, but I was growing more and more apprehensive by the minute. Was I lost, or was I on the right track? Did I need to just keep going for a little while longer? Then, my friend, Siri, said, "In one quarter mile, turn right." When I did, I saw a sign that said, "Cumberland Gap," and the arrow pointed straight ahead. I raised my hand right then and there, and said, "Thank you, Jesus!" It was a name that I recognized!
Sometimes, on this road of life, we may feel lost and afraid. We may go over rough roads, with lots of twists and turns. But if we will put our faith and trust in the One who has never failed us, He will bring us back into that familiar territory, and even though we are not quite home yet...we feel safe and secure.
Thank you, Lord, for being my guide along whatever road I'm traveling, and throughout this journey of life.
