The Day After Christmas
‘Twas the day after Christmas; I’m up before dawn,
The hustle and bustle and noise is all gone.
The tree is still up; the halls are still decked,
So I had some time to just sit and reflect.
We made time for family; We meant to all year,
But, we ran here and there, too busy to hear,
“Come see me, I miss you! Can you stop by tonight?”
“I’ll try to,” we said, “I might come…I might.”
But, this time, we did! And it really felt good,
To catch up and visit; You knew that it would.
We laughed and we sang, and then laughed some more,
As the children all played, and sat on the floor.
We ate so much food, that we gained a few pounds,
We promised to do better, but we still made the rounds.
Each place made a memory that we’ll hold in our heart,
All through this next year, when at times, we’re apart.
We all went to church on this Christmas Eve,
To hear about Jesus, because we believe.
We all watched in wonder, as the children portrayed
The story of Jesus, and the difference He made.
All this was so precious…but what mattered most,
Was the love we all felt, as we all made a toast,
To the One who left Heaven, and came down to earth,
Oh, how I am thankful for that sweet Baby’s birth!

As we ponder the gathering of family during this special time of the year, I am reminded that our church family is a huge part of our spiritual growth.
Hebrews 10:24-25 tells us, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
If it’s been awhile since you have joined your church family, now would be a wonderful time to come back. You may need encouragement, or perhaps you can encourage someone else, and spur them on to love and good deeds.
Now is as good a time as any. Your family misses you.
HAVE A GREAT THURSDAY!
